THE BIG PLAN-SORT OF
We know that the best way to make the gods laugh – is to have a plan. So, again to reference one of our favorite movies-Pirates of the Caribbean -we have established something that is more like a guideline- than a plan. The bathroom-consisting of tub/shower and composting toilet in the rear. The living/bedroom, midships over the dual wheel housings. And kitchen/dining/greenhouse/office, up front.
We are trying to preserve as much of the character of the original bus as possible. Those book shelves are amazing! And what tiny house has enough storage? As the planning started, Caryn (the owner of the bus, we are just uber-talented staff) has realized just how much of the conversion is already in place. The bus is insulated with spray on foam! See what’s behind the shelving in the above picture. There is 110v and 12v wiring and electric panel-already in place. The Bookmobile does not have the line of windows on either side that other folks have had to deal with while converting “Schoolies” ( that is Tiny House jargon for those who convert schoolbuses to homes-stick with me-I’ll keep you cool). There is only the large-really large- window on the front of the bus, two windows on either side up front, one window in each of the two doors, and a rear window.
Can’t you just see that adorable seating cove where the Piper is removing some shelves, in the above picture??? The Bookmobile is equipped with loads of lighting and heating, almost new flooring, and delightful cubbies and desks and storage! Stay tuned-there is a lot more to come!
