The work on the Bookmobile Tiny Home continues at a frenetic pace, but someone has to keep the home fires burning, the pitiful garden going and late summer canning started. That someone would be me, Mrs. Pickles. It’s time to live up to my nickname.
This was a good day. Eight pints of Pickled Cauliflower, four half pints of the same, four pints of Kosher Dill Chips, four pints of Bread and Butter slices, and three quarter pints of precious Blackberry Preserves.
And that picture right up there-that is the secret to 41 years of happy married life—Pickled Cauliflower. It is the Piper’s very favorite pickle. He likes his pickles and his women on the spicy side. Good thing he has me.
And just to keep things painfully real-this is the counter behind the camera. I hope you still like me when you check out this mess.
There were a few shortcuts taken to achieve this day’s work. Mrs Wage’s refrigerator pickle mix was used for the cucumbers. And the cauliflower and black berry preserves are recipes from my favorite canning book.
